The recipient of the ACR Award for Excellence in Education will demonstrate each of the following through their work with the ACR. Work through other societies and institutions will be considered but not prioritized. Letters submitted with the application should address each of these criteria, citing examples, for evaluation.
Dedication to education: A commitment to teaching, mentoring, and supporting residents, fellows, and medical students in their learning journey and/or a commitment to close gaps in radiologic practice performance by designing meaningful professional development resources and education for practicing radiologists, radiation oncologists and/or medical physicists.
- Describe the nominee’s educational contributions to the ACR, regardless of format (e.g., in-person/virtual teaching, assessment question writing, written/visual materials, etc.).
- Describe how the nominee has mentored others or facilitated meaningful connections between mentors and mentees through their work with the ACR or ACR programs.
Innovation in education: The use of creative and effective teaching methods to enhance learning.
- Describe how the nominee has demonstrated innovation in their educational work through the ACR by developing or contributing to new or unique teaching methods, formats, or resources. (Consider creative approaches to teaching, use of technology, novel formats or original content that enhances learning.)
- Describe the extent to which the nominee’s innovative educational work through the ACR has met its goals and sustained them over time. (Consider feedback from learners or peers, measurable outcomes, continued use or adaptation of the work and long-term impact on educational practices.)
Contributions to the field: A track record of scholarly activity and contributions to the field of radiology and radiology education.
- Describe the nominee’s involvement in and service to educating the radiology community through their volunteer work with the ACR.
- Describe how the nominee has advanced the goals of radiology through their volunteer educational work with the ACR (e.g., enabling efficient diagnosis, appropriate imaging use, collaboration with referring physicians or consistent terminology).
Leadership and service: A demonstrated commitment to leadership and service within the ACR community.
- Describe the nominee’s leadership roles in ACR educational activities, commissions and committees and effectiveness of collaboration with other groups.
- Describe how successful the nominee’s leadership efforts have been in driving the effectiveness and impact of the programs, activities, or groups they have led within the ACR community. (Consider outcomes such as increased engagement, measurable improvements, sustained participation or recognition of the initiative’s value.)
