Read moreThe American College of Radiology® (ACR®) today announced the appointment of Matthew Spurgeon as executive vice president of Member Value and Experience, reinforcing ACR’s commitment to advancing medical imaging and improving patient care through strategic leadership and innovation.
Spurgeon brings more than 20 years of experience in organizational strategy, development and change management. In this newly created role, he will lead enterprise-wide strategic initiatives, guide long-term planning and foster collaboration across ACR’s diverse membership and stakeholder network to drive growth and innovation.
“Matt’s strategic vision and proven leadership will help ACR accelerate its efforts to shape the future of medical imaging and help align ACR’s programs and services with the evolving needs of our members,” said ACR CEO Dana H. Smetherman, MD, MPH, MBA, FACR. “His expertise will be instrumental in driving initiatives that support our members and their practices and enhance patient care.”
Prior to joining ACR, Spurgeon served as vice president of strategy and development at the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), where he spearheaded programs to enhance healthcare information management and education. His career also includes leadership roles at Joint Commission International and academic contributions as an adjunct professor at the University of Illinois Chicago.
“I am honored to join ACR and contribute to its vital mission,” said Spurgeon. “Radiology is at the forefront of patient care. I look forward to working with our talented team and members to advance innovation, strengthen collaboration, and ensure ACR continues to lead the way in improving radiologic health outcomes.”
Spurgeon earned a Master of Arts in Social Science from The University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
