Contact Your Lawmakers to Cosponsor the ROOT Act
ACR urges lawmakers to cosponsor the ROOT Act to streamline imaging AUC (PAMA), boost patient safety, and cut Medicare costs.
Read moreA group of national organizations including ACR® praised the U.S. House of Representatives for passing the Women and Lung Cancer Research and Preventive Services Act, H.R. 2319. The letter in particular thanks Reps. Brendan Boyle (D-PA) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), and Sens. Tina Smith (D-MN) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), for leading the effort.
If enacted, the bill would strengthen research into how lung cancer affects women and support better screening and prevention. H.R. 2319 addresses long-standing gaps in knowledge about lung cancer among women and could help physicians deliver more effective care.
While there is a Senate companion bill, S. 1157, it has not moved out of committee or been voted on. To become law, the Senate must vote in favor of the legislation before sending it to the president for signature.
